Senior Content Manager

The Sr. Content Manager will manage the curriculum and instructional design, storyboarding, and delivery of e-learning content. This position is responsible for managing the process of content development and delivery on-time and on-budget, managing projects from initiation through delivery to student. This position is also responsible for the lifecycle of academic content, ensuring quality development, a positive student experience with the content, and revision and review cycles for content. This position reports to the Director of Content Development in the Product Development department.

Essential Functions

  • Design instructional design materials and curricular content for elearning at the career school, college, and sometimes the high school levels.
  • Create and maintain instructional design templates and guidelines.
  • Create raw content, including course maps, storyboards, and media assets and work with production team to ensure final delivery meets instructional design templates and guidelines.
  • Manage projects from start to finish including budget and timeline.
    • Hire and manage freelance authors, subject-matter experts, instructional designers, and others to ensure creation, development, and instructional design of quality content.
    • Manage and maintain relationships with external vendors such as authors, subject-matter experts, instructional designers, and others.
    • Manage ADDIE content development process and work closely with instructors in the Education department, authors, and subject-matter experts to ensure delivery of quality curriculum.
    • Work with Production Editor and department directors to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
    • Work with potential and existing clients and partners and represent Product Development in sales meetings and to articulate the curriculum and justification for program design, content processes, learning model and theories, and marketing highlights.
  • Collaborate with platform engineering team on customizations, enhancements, and revisions to the learning platform and advise on customization and interoperability of learning content and learning platform.
  • Revise existing courses and programs based on student and instructor feedback, as well as developments in applicable vertical markets.
    • Research the performance of students enrolled in the program areas such as analyzing exam completion information, social media comments and questions, and completion rates to inform a revision.
  • Own all projects and advise Director of Content Development, senior management, and cross-functional teams on strategy and implementation of solutions.
    • Ensure new and revised content is tied to both program- and course-level outcomes, objectives, and assessments. Ensure all assessments are tied to course objectives and test to appropriate levels of Bloom’s taxonomy.
    • Represent various instructional design pedagogies, including Bloom’s taxonomy, Universal Design for Learning, and Adult Learning Theory, in curricular materials.
    • Identify technology, features, and functions needed to be the best in market with programs.
    • Advise on various content architecture projects, such as defining a learning object, advancing the learning platform, and creating and managing metadata.
  • Create and provide regular reports on the assigned workflow.
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams to develop content positioning, value proposition, and competitive differentiation.
    • Assist in improvement of department processes and relationships with other departments.

 

Skills & Abilities

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required. Graduate work in curriculum design or instructional technology a plus. Project management certification a plus.
  • Experience: 5 to 7 years instructional design experience, preferably in post-secondary education and with digital media. Applicants should have previous experience in at least two of the following areas: classroom teaching; project management experience; product development experience; experience with learning management systems; experience in adult learning.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of various course authoring and learning tools, such as Lectora and Camtasia, preferred; experience with learning management systems required; Teamwork PM, Adobe Creative Suite, Quark, and other educational technology a plus.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Familiarity with Adult Learning Theory and adult and nontraditional learners.
