The Adjunct Instructor – Externship Evaluator will be working closely with Veterinary Technician Students while they are performing their required clinical externships. They will assist in course instruction and student feedback in the Veterinary Technician Program as directed by the Clinical Coordinator and the department manager. Some work with Veterinary Assistant externship students may also be required.
Must be able to:
Objectively and accurately evaluate externship (clinical) skills according to established grading rubric and guidelines
Provide clear and effective feedback to students within established time frames
Complete the necessary steps to ensure that grades are properly recorded with the school
Provide regular updates to the Clinical Coordinator regarding student progress
Skills & Abilities:
Education: Must possess an Associate Degree from an AVMA accredited Veterinary Technician Program AND must be a Credentialed (licensed/registered) Veterinary Technician (LVT, RVT, CVT).
Minimum of 2 years working as a Veterinary Technician is required. Prior teaching experience preferred.
Strong computer skills and access to a reliable computer and internet is essential
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
Must have strong time management skills and be able to work with strict deadlines
Should be able to travel to Scranton, PA office as needed for training and to pick up required work
Incumbent has authority to make grading decisions within established precedents or well-defined policy with regular direction from the full time instructional staff.
